Child Protection (CAS)

Child Protection (CAS)

If the CAS is talking to you, you need to be talking to us.

For parents, one of the most stressful experiences can occur when the Children's Aid Society (CAS) is involved with a family and the parents don't know what their rights are.

Our experienced lawyers have a wealth of experience in advising parents of their rights, in dealing effectively with the CAS, and in obtaining great results that preserve the integrity of families.

Voluntary Service Agreements & Kin Placements

Our lawyers understand that some parents require support. We assist with Voluntary Service Agreements where the parents have to place children in temporary CAS care.

In other cases, we assist with children being placed with family or friends that the CAS call “kin placements.”

Supervision Orders to Parents & Children Apprehended from Parents
(Interim Society Care / Extended Society Care)

We use a results-oriented defence strategy to secure your rights and represent you on these types of matters.

In some cases, the CAS is looking to place conditions on your parenting. We can negotiate on your behalf to ensure that there are no unwarranted conditions.

In other cases, children are removed from the parent’s care. We can negotiate on your behalf for the return of the children.

If your children have been apprehended, the lawyers at our firm can schedule a motion as soon as possible to request that the court return your children. We will discuss all options with you to determine the best course of action for obtaining the return of your children.

We obtain results where others have not.

Our lawyers win trials where the stakes are at their highest. We have lawyers who have successfully won the return of children to their parents at trials where the CAS was seeking to terminate parental rights and have the children made available for adoption.

Whether through negotiation outside of court, or fierce advocacy inside the courtroom, we are committed to fighting for your rights, reuniting your family, and getting the CAS out of your family’s life as soon as possible.
